DOGS CHASING HETHERINGTON, NADEN

- DAVID RICCIO

CANTERBURY is targeting the son of a former club premiership winner – while a pitch to lure Penrith centre Brent Naden to Belmore immediately has been rejected.

The Bulldogs’ attempt to pinch Naden for the remainder of the season has emerged amid the club’s interest in also securing Kobe Hetherington, the son of former grand final winner and Queensland State of Origin player Jason Hetherington.

Naden is yet to play first grade for the Panthers this season and is headed to the Bulldogs on a two-year deal from 2022.

The strike centre was named as Ivan Cleary’s 19th man for the Panthers clash with the Roosters on Friday night. The Panthers have told Canterbury officials they won’t be letting the 25-yearold go until the year is over.

The Dogs’ bid to rejuvenate the roster for 2022 also includes the pursuit of Broncos hooker Hetherington. He has played four NRL games.

Trent Barrett’s Bulldogs take on Parramatta on Sunday afternoon at Bankwest Stadium in Sydney.
