CRICKET 365’s Strike League hits off on Sunday with 50over matches at Marrara’s DXC Arena and Palmerston’s Cazalys Oval.

The Desert Blaze and City Cyclones clash at Marrara in a 1.30pm day-nighter, with Northern Tide locking horns with Southern Storm at Cazalys Oval from 10.30am.

The Blaze feature Sydney Thunder and NSW fast bowler Chris Tremain and Darwinborn Tom Andrews, the 2020-21 Marsh One-Day Cup Player of the Year.

Left-arm orthodox spinner Andrews, will captain the Blaze, with his father, David ‘Ronnie’ Andrews, the team’s coach after his nine-year stint in India.

Sydney Sixers and NSW cricketers Hayden Kerr and Jack Edwards are also part of the Blaze’s playing list.

In-form Southern Districts top order bat Jackson Isakka is another important cog in the Blaze line-up after hitting two centuries in the Darwin competition.

The Cyclones will be captained by Territory cricketer Alex Bleakley, where his top -order batting and right-arm medium pace are big assets in the limited over game.

The Cyclones will be without three of their star recruits this weekend.

Australian Test cricketer Kurtis Patterson and South Australian pair Henry Hunt and Lloyd Pope will arrive in Darwin next month for the 10week tournament.

In Sunday’s other game, the Northern Tide’s batting will be strengthened with the inclusion of NSW pair Jason Sanga and Ryan Hackney for the opening round game.

The Tide will be led by Waratah Cricket Club’s premiership captain Isaac Conway, with the Tahs influence continuing with former Sri Lankan first-class cricketer and Waratah club coach Udara Weerasinghe coaching the team.

The Southern Storm will be captained by elegant Hobart Hurricanes and Tasmanian right-hand opening batsmen Mac Wright.

Adding to the interstate flavour is NSW and Sydney Thunder right arm off-spinning all-rounder Arjun Nair, who will add depth with bat and ball.

The one-day series has all four sides playing six matches, all of them alternating between day-night matches at DXC Arena and day games at Cazalys Arena.

The matches will be livestreamed via FrogBox and can be viewed on the MyCricket
