FROM its opening voiceover of a DJ waxing lyrical about pop culture, it becomes instantly clear that this Taika Waititi comedy will have nods to Quentin Tarantino’s 1992 cult movie Reservoir Dogs. There are clear homages to Tarantino’s classic, including a gang of colourfully named characters, a heist that goes wrong and a cracking soundtrack. Waititi brings his unique blend of childish innocence to this tale of four Native American teens. In their eagerness to escape their community, four friends embark on a life of crime.
