STAR POWER
MOST WATCHED EVENTS The Olympic heroes you fell in love with
THEY are the megawatt stars of the Tokyo Olympics, powered by amazing performances and an Australian population fed up with Covid restrictions and lockdowns. Since the opening ceremony more than two weeks ago, almost 20 million people have watched the Games — and the Aussie athletes were by far the biggest drawcard. Viewing figures provided by official broadcaster the Seven Network rank the most popular athletes, with numbers peaking at 3.1 million per event. Most eyes were on Rohan “The Flying Mullet” Browning running his 100m semi-final, followed closely by 400m hero Peter Bol. Others who ranked highly were the Kookaburras, Sam Kerr and the Matidas, BMX gold medallist Logan Martin and, of course, the all-conquering swim team.
