- GARY SHIPWAY

THE premier awards night for the Territory’s restaurants, cafes and dining establishment, will conquer new ground on Monday night.

Three of the NT’s most well known chefs — Jimmy Shu (Hanuman), Madusha Olupathage (DoubleTree by

Hilton) and Danny Yeum (Roast and Noodle) are teaming up to create a menu inspired by South-East Asian cuisine for the Gold Plate awards.

The 500 guests will munch on egg hoppers with black pork curry and seeni sambal, duck San chow bow and lots more.

Hospitality NT chief executive

officer Alex Bruce said industry was gathering for a well-earned rest for the awards night which recognises winners in 20 categories.

Jimmy Shu said the collaboration and menu the trio were doing for the Gold Plate Awards was a first for the NT.

“It is an honour to work with

Madusha and Danny, bringing together all our different cultures,” he said.

“Something like this has never been done before and I am thrilled to showcase the diversity of South-East Asian cuisine through our dishes.”

The Gold Plate Awards are the NT’s top hospitality awards.
