Smoking gender gap

-

MALE smokers suck back more cigarettes per day, but a new study has found it’s women who find it harder to butt out for good. Research of 35,000 smokers in France found men smoked an average of 27 cigarettes each day, while women only smoked 23.

However, 55 per cent of men could kick the habit compared with 52 per cent of women. It has been hypothesised this could be linked to higher rates of anxiety, depression and obesity among women. The study found 60 per cent of men had severe nicotine dependencies.
