NSW recorded 1533 new coronaviru­s cases and four deaths to 8pm on Friday.

NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard said on Saturday that none of the people who died were vaccinated. They were a man in his 60s, a woman in her 80s, a man in his 50s, and a man in his 70s. Vaccine doses numbered 130,000.

VICTORIA

VICTORIA recorded 190 new cases of Covid-19 for Friday. In a concerning detail, of that number 103 were linked while 87 remained under investigat­ion. It follows the state recording 208 cases for Thursday as numbers continue to climb despite a sixth lockdown. Premier Daniel Andrews warned earlier this week that Victorians “will not see these case numbers go down”.

QUEENSLAND

MANY visitors to a key Queensland exposure site did not use the check-in app and the race is on to find people potentiall­y exposed to an infected truck driver, the state’s chief health officer said. The truckie visited the Stylish Nails salon at Beenleigh marketplac­e while infectious on Monday between 10.30am and 11.45am, but of eight people at the salon only one had checked in, Jeannette Young said on Saturday.

CANBERRA has recorded another spike in coronaviru­s cases, with 32 new locally acquired cases discovered. Chief Minister Andrew Barr said 24 were linked to close contacts and 19 were infectious in the community. One person was in ICU requiring ventilatio­n. It brings the total number of cases to 359.
