BABY BUNNIES PUT FIRE OUT AFTER DRAGONS’ POOR YEAR
WAYNE Bennett’s baby Bunnies have shown the future is bright with a 20-16 win over a lacklustre Dragons side.
Coming in to replace the injured Adam Reynolds was young gun Lachlan Ilias and he wasted no time in making an impact in his NRL debut.
The playmaker kicked a grubber which was fumbled by Mikaele Ravalawa. Ilias chased after the ball and grounded it to score his first try.
The Bunnies backed it up with a try to Campbell Graham after a costly Dragons error, and seven minutes later Graham crossed again off yet another Dragons error.
Latrell Mitchell’s replacement, Blake Taaffe, Ta stepped up to goalkicking goal duties and although alt he missed all three t try conversions, he did slot a penalty goal to take his Bunnies out to a 14-nil lead.
Ilias and Taaffe linked up early in the second half to send Taane Milne over. Taaffe nailed the sideline conversion to take the Rabbitohs out to a 20-0 lead.
The Dragons’ night got even worse when veteran forward Josh McGuire was sin-binned for a high shot.
