Shock find on obesity
OVEREATING is not the main cause of obesity, according to researchers who found the consumption of the wrong types of food rather than too much was the leading cause of weight gain.
The findings, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, said food and drinks with high amounts of processed sugar contributed to fat increasing rather than the age-old theory of burning off the energy consumed through exercise. The study found energy-dense, modern processed foods drove a “positive energy balance”.
