- NATHANIEL CHAMBERS

ONE of the Territory’s most prestigious art awards is back with artists once again urged to participate in the Portrait of a Senior Territorian Art Award.

Now in its 23rd year, the award has a prize pool of $10,500 including $7000 for the winning portrait which will be acquired by the NT government.

Arts, Culture and Heritage Minister Chansey Paech said the award had reached iconic status immortalising some of the

Territory’s most colourful, hardworking characters.

“The Portrait of a Senior Territorian Art Award fosters artistic excellence and creativity,” he said.

“It provides a fascinating insight into the lives of people who have significantly contributed to the fabric of the Northern Territory.

“The award salutes our seniors and inspires our artists to capture history.”

Winners will be announced at Parliament House on December 6, with entries closing on November 3.
