BOUNDLESS CHANCES AT WINNELLIE

- GREG ALDAM

THE NT Boundless Possible Winnellie Cup is the main attraction on a nine-race program at Winnellie Park.

With the race worth $5000 to the winning greyhound, it has attracted plenty of interest with last week’s heats providing an outstanding final, all runners having some sort of claim in a race where early luck in running should play a major role.

Fastest heat winner was Darwin Cup winner Mighty Marshall, and although he has drawn a little awkwardly in box five, Andrew Lasker will have him primed for a strong showing, and the son of Kiowa Mon Manny is a leading contender.

Tim Mullany hails from Western Australia, however, he has been a strong supporter of racing at Winnellie Park, and he has Lovely Xena ideally boxed jumping from box one and also Ohia engaged, and both need to be respected.

Darwin’s leading trainer, Steele Bolton, has Old School Cool and Pepperberry in the final, and Old School Cool has proven he can run a fast time over the Winnellie Cup distance of 383m. The other runners in Aeroplane Rose, for Adam Poulter, who doesn’t know how to run a bad race, Kay Okay, who should appreciate box eight for Graeme Ferns, and Sparky’s Chance, for Lasker, cannot be discounted.

One trainer who is flying under the radar is Rob Brown, who runs a real family affair kennel and he has some nice chances including My Shout Justice in race two, Zothan’s Magic appears to have found a suitable assignment in race six and Distant Sun was impressive last start and will have supporters in race seven.

First race is 7.42pm NT time.
