Memory brain train

-

GAMES and activities that stimulate the brain can lower the risk of developing dementia, according to a clinical neuropsychologist.

Research has found playing puzzle-based games such as crosswords and sudoku, or learning a new language or technological skill can be beneficial for preserving mental capacity. “The benefits to the brain are thought to be because these stimulating cognitive activities build a ‘cognitive reserve’ over a lifetime that can help withstand brain changes associated with the ageing process,” UNSW’s Nicole Kochan said.
