Heggie to address councils
CHIEF health officer Hugh Heggie will address recently elected local government members as the Territory continues its push to vaccinate all Territorians.
Dr Heggie will address an elected member symposium organised by local government peak body LGANT on Tuesday, with dozens of newly elected or re-elected councillors from across the Territory, many from remote regional councils.
The health officer has been touring regional communities to reinforce the importance of Covid-19 vaccinations.
He has used his extensive experience and knowledge of remote communities to encourage residents to have the jab.
The government hopes 80 per cent of Territorians will be vaccinated by November, but a recent report indicated that target may not be achieved until January.
The address will take place at the DoubleTree Hilton.
