-

THE NT News loves it when callers ring up with questions. One such example is a man who introduced himself as being “from a locked down state” and wanted to know whether the NT had many

“wet T-shirt competitions”. Bushie obviously sends their thoughts to those with too much time on their hands in lockdown.

NOT A PIES FAN

BUSHIE’S spies overheard the following sentence from a punter at the Beachfront’s smokers’ area. Here it is, presented without comment: “There I was right, minding me own business and a f--kin’ magpie came and swooped me in me f--kin’ eye ... f--k Collingwood.”

SHOE’S ON THE OTHER FOOT

BUSHIE has heard on good authority that Darwin council has in recent days sent out an all-staff email reminding them thongs are not an appropriate form of footwear for the workplace. Bushie is curious as to whether there was an event which prompted this. Give the NT News a call if you know anything.

NO COVID HERE

NT Senator Sam McMahon had to rush to assure everyone she was Covidnegative after losing her voice during a press conference in Palmerston on Friday. “I’ve been tested three times,” Senator McMahon managed to say between coughs. After all, she’d recently had to quarantine at Howard Springs on her way back from

Canberra. Thankfully a press minder rushed to the nearby canteen and fetched her some water.

TOO COOL FOR THE POOL

AT that same presser, Senator McMahon sadly didn't oblige a request to take a ankle-deep dip in the kiddie pool. Bushie was disappointed.

WITH FRIENDS LIKE THESE ...

FORMER PM Malcolm Turnbull’s regular carping at the Coalition government he used to lead has won him no friends. Asked to respond to Turnbull’s view that the Morrison government should not unravel the Territory’s Port lease deal with Chinese company Landbridge, Senator Sam McMahon let rip: “No one cares what Malcolm Turnbull thinks. He was impotent as PM and he’s irrelevant now.” No love lost between former allies, it seems.
