SWEATY PITS AND SUNSETS

- AMANDA PARKINSON

GET the washing done before the storms and showers hit Darwin from Monday.

The build-up across the Top End has brought its landmark sunsets and trademark armpit sweat stains, however the rains are coming.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, the Territory’s capital city will have showers and storms for most of the next week, with temperatures stable between a low of 26C and high of 33C.

A weak ridge will persist across the Gulf of Carpentaria and Top End until Monday. A heat trough will persist across the Kimberley and a heat low will deepen over the Kimberley from Monday.

Monday and Tuesday are expected to have the heaviest rainfall with 70 per cent of chance showers in the morning and afternoon before thunderstorms develop in the evening.

Rains are also expected in Kakadu and Litchfield National Parks.

Alice Springs may see a shower early in the week.
