Trail bid for scenic road

-

A NEW trail on the Great Ocean Rd is one step closer to being built after the Victorian government began consultation to improve the iconic tourist region.

Several suspension bridges were expected to be included in the 90km trail that will connect the Surf Coast and Great Ocean Rd and show off the area’s natural and cultural history. It is hoped it will attract 50,000 visitors over five years and pump an extra $47m into the economy.

Construction is expected to begin in 2023, with the final product including camping sites, lookouts, boardwalks, bridges, river crossings, carparks, and day visitor areas.
