MAN ‘CHOKED’ BABY GIRL
A MAN has been charged with allegedly abusing and choking an eight-month-old baby in Sydney’s western suburbs. The man, 24, was arrested on Friday morning after an investigation into how the baby girl presented to hospital with serious head and neck injuries.
NSW Police detectives started examining the incident on August 27 after the girl was treated at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
Following inquiries from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad, officers went to a home in Whalan and arrested the man.
“He was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station and charged with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent, and intentionally choke person without consent,” police said. “Police will allege in court that the infant sustained the injuries while in the man’s care.”
