HOW DO YOU STAY COOL?
UNLESS you’ve been living under an airconditioned rock, you would be very aware of the hot and sticky Build-Up conditions that have now well and truly settled in.
For tips on how to stay cool, the Sunday Territorian headed along to the Beats By the Poolside second birthday celebrations at the Darwin Ski Club.
Darwin local Ryan Amos said he drank beer to stay cool during the Build-Up.
“Take it slowly, slow down, don’t try and live your life the way you normally do,” Mr Amos said.
“The biggest thing is keep your water up, have a beer when you can and just slow down a little bit and you’ll get through and cope.”
Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) senior forecaster Sally Cutter said the best way to cool down was to avoid being outside in the middle of the day.
“The easiest way to keep cool is being in airconditioning,” Ms Cutter said.
“We’re seeing that transition from the dry season to the wet season and that’s characterised by the humidity increasing and warm nights.”
