Driver hands himself in

A 32-YEAR-old man has been charged after he was allegedly involved in a hit and run that killed a man in Wagaman.

The 32-year-old was arrested after he handed himself in to Major Crash detectives on Friday night.

A car – a white Toyota Camry – was located and seized by police soon after.

The man has been charged with hit and run causing death.

The charges came after police released CCTV footage of the driver allegedly travelling through the suburbs and surrounds following the alleged hit-and-run on Tuesday night.

It’s alleged the pedestrian was hit and knocked to the road as he crossed Vanderlin Drive at around 11.10pm.

He was admitted to Royal Darwin Hospital following the incident and remained in intensive care but died on Wednesday evening.

The pedestrian had just done some shopping and crossed the road at the point of the pharmacy.
