Horse riders live on edge

-

A NEW study has found horse riding to be more dangerous than other risky sporting activities, such as football, motor racing or skiing.

Researchers at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley found the risk of an injury requiring hospital admission was higher for horse riders, with the chest area the most common site of injury.

Head and neck injuries were the most lethal, the findings showed, while 320 horse riders died between 2007 and 2016. The observational study included only those patients treated at US trauma centres.
