Flood advice fail
ONE in six Australians have admitted they’ve ignored advice and tried to drive through a flooded area.
As the storm season gets under way along the nation’s east coast, new research from Compare the Market found 18 per cent had disregarded the “if it’s flooded forget it message” to drive across flooded roads.
The survey of more than 1500 Aussies found 44 per cent said they could probably do more to protect their home heading into the storm season.
At least 43 per cent were also concerned about potential damage.
About 22 per cent of Australians weren’t sure whether their property was adequately insured for a complete rebuild, and 8 per cent said their home was not adequately covered for a worst-case scenario. A third of respondents cleared their gutter at least every six months.
