‘IDIOTS’ RALLY FOR SECOND WEEK IN A ROW

- JASON WALLS

MITCHELL Street was closed to traffic for about half an hour on Saturday afternoon as a group of more than 1000 anti-vaccination protesters gathered at the Esplanade and marched into the CBD.

The group – whom Chief Minister Michael Gunner has previously labelled “idiots” – took to the streets peacefully after 3pm chanting “terminate the mandate” and “Gunner’s gotta go” before rallying again in Civic Park.

Mr Gunner again fired back saying the government’s Covid-19 vaccine mandate would save lives.

“Different day, same answer,” he said.

“Get vaxxed for yourself, for your loved ones, for people you’ve never met.

“Covid will get here eventually, the vaccine is your best protection, the best way to save your life.”

Following last week’s rally, Mr Gunner’s wife and young son had to leave their home to seek safety elsewhere after the family’s address was broadcast at the protest.

Chief health officer Hugh Heggie has reassured Territorians that the vaccine is safe, urging people to roll up their sleeves to protect themselves and their loved ones.

“It hasn’t got microchips in it or 5G SIM cards,” he said.
