DON’T SWIM WITH THE CROCS

THERE was a bit of an awkward run-in for a journalist at the NT News last week, who was caught walking into parliament brandishing a copy of Crocs in the Cabinet … by a cabinet minister. “Um, catching up,” Territory Families Minister Kate Worden asked the stunned journo. Bushranger understands the reporter stammered out that the publishers had finally decided to run another print of the book, which details the unravelling of the CLP government from 2012-16.

BILL IN THE TRENCHES

PROPS to the CLP’s health spokesman Bill Yan, who copped a difficult week with grace. After being (wrongly) accused of attending an antivaccination rally in Question Time, commenters on an online NT News story pondered whether he had received his vaccine. Mr Yan stepped in to clear up any confusion, replying in the comments section: “I can confirm that I am vaccinated, both shots as at 4th of August, for the record.” Thanks for the subscription, Bill!

ONE-STOP TOP END

IT’S claimed former prime minister

Paul Keating said he’d prefer to fly over Darwin on his way to Paris.

Current PM Scott Morrison went one better during the week when – en route to Italy and COP26 in Glasgow – he landed in Darwin late Tuesday night and didn’t get out of the plane. The refuel stop lasted half an hour and the PM and his travelling party were back in the air.

EXCESS BAGGAGE

THE Prime Minister was accompanied by a party of 20 officials and 19 media on the way to Europe and will be joined by 35 officials and 19 media when they return on November 4. Bushranger wants to know from where the additional officials have come. Maybe something in the Glasgow water.

CHER-ING A JOKE

CHANSEY Paech was pretty quick on his feet when responding in bringing a point of order against Steve Edgington in parliament during the week. “The member for Barkly wants to turn back time … maybe he’s a fan of Cher,” Mr Paech said.

LIES OVER LIA’S LEADERSHIP

RUMOURS went around that there was a challenge for the CLP leadership on Friday night. It’s false, and the rumours apparently came from the Fifth Floor …
