BIG PRAISE FROM DANNY

-

TRAINER Danny O’Brien says Damien Oliver is riding as well as ever after piloting Superstorm to a narrow victory in a blanket finish of the $2m Cantala Stakes, bringing up the jockey’s 125th Group 1 success and his 25th at the Melbourne Cup carnival. Oliver, 49, made it a Saturday Group 1 double when he timed his run to perfection on the O’Brien-trained Superstorm, only three races after winning the Empire Rose Stakes on Colette. “His two Group 1 wins have been as good a Group 1 rides as you would see,” O’Brien said after Superstorm ($8) beat Icebath ($6.50) and Cascadian ($13).
