Cyclone threat eases, wet to hang around

-

THE threat of Tropical Cyclone Anika hitting the NT has eased with experts expecting it to make landfall in Western Australia early on Sunday.

The cyclone formed in the early hours of Saturday, but had tracked further southeast, reducing the risk for regions north of Dundee Beach.

But an active monsoon is still affecting the Top End, with concerns of torrential rain creating hazards on the road and posing a risk for flash flooding. Cyclone Anika is expected to intensify to a category two storm before making landfall north of Wyndham on the WA coastline.
