Overseas students back in NT
CHARLES Darwin University has welcomed back more than 350 international students from around the world, two years after the pandemic caused Australia’s borders to close.
Chief Minister Michael Gunner was there to welcome the students this week, and said the international cohort was vital to the economic and cultural fabric of the Territory.
International education generates more than $172m in export revenue each year for the Territory, with each student contributing an average of $40,000 to the economy.
International Education Minister Nicole Manison was also on site welcoming the new arrivals.
CDU vice-chancellor Professor Scott Bowman said that against the backdrop of events unfolding in Europe, the importance of international students went even further.
