Savvy NT spenders splurge
DARWIN shoppers continue to spend big in local businesses, with at least $291,000 pumped back into the economy over the past two days.
Within 48 hours of the relaunch of the myDarwin discount program, $97,000 had already been redeemed by Top End customers.
With 16 per cent of the total kitty already claimed, the entire $600,000 scheme is expected to be spent within only 12 days.
Darwin City Retailers Association general manager Andrea Wicking has previously welcomed the return of the initiative, which is expected to help more than 350 registered small businesses taking part in the voucher program.
Territorians and tourists can register for the buy local discount program and redeem vouchers via their mobile devices to spend at participating businesses.
Every registered user will receive $40 worth of myDarwin discount vouchers on registration and are replenished every 48 hours.
A myPalmerston program will return with a $600,000 kitty, starting on March 14.
