MORTALITY and disability as a result of thyroid cancer is rising in Australia despite declines across the European Union, according to international researchers. They tracked thyroid cancer rates, mortality rates and the amount of years affected by thyroid cancer-related disability across 16 European countries along with US, Australia and Canada from 1990 to 2019. The researchers say while the overall rate of thyroid cancer rose in 13 of the 19 countries, Australia, the US and Denmark were the only countries where mortality and disabilityaffected years increased across that time.
