RIDING AWAY FROM THE BLACK DOG DEPRESSION
THE Black Dog Ride revs into action this Sunday to raise money and awareness around mental health.
Black Dog Ride Northern Territory co-ordinator, Shane Klein, who has driven with the event for several
years, said the event would put a focus on depression, anxiety and suicide prevention.
“We encourage people to keep an eye on family and friends and look out for the signs,” he said. Motorcyclists will depart from the Beachfront Hotel and ride to Noonamah Tavern to
enjoy lunch, entertainment and the chance to win prizes.
The nationwide event is also hosting a virtual ride which Mr Klein says is a great alternative for those unable to come in person.
“(You can) get a couple of mates together and go for a ride and buy
some merchandise to promote the event,” he said.
Money raised by the event is given to both major and local organisations, with grants available for community projects and activities associated with promoting awareness.
