Covid clot gene link
SOUTH Australian researchers believe they have found a possible reason why some Covid-19 vaccines could cause rare blood clots in some patients.
The Flinders University and SA Pathology study suggested a person’s genetics could be to blame.
Looking at five unrelated people who experienced a clotting complication, researchers found all participants had unusually structured antibodies against a protein involved in blood clotting called platelet factor 4.
The participants also had a specific version of a gene that is responsible for producing these antibodies.
