Quality sprinters clash

- GREG ALDAM

ONE of the highlights of the Winnellie Park meeting on Sunday night is the open sprint, which has brought together an outstanding field.

Leading trainer Steele Bolton has a strong hand in the 383m race with Old School Cool and Midnight Vandal jumping from the inside boxes.

This gives both runners a great chance because they are capable of running quick times over this trip. All the same they will need to be at their best.

Muskeg, from the Graeme Ferns kennel, last-start winner Lovely Xena, from the in-form Ron Phillips yard, and Nigel’s Chance, for Andrew Lasker, could easily figure in the finish with some luck in running.

The Bolton team has been ticking along beautifully and the trainer has good chances in More Speed (race one), Dinkydi Asset (race three) and Good Charlotte (race eight).

In the first race, the Rob Brown-trained Bidgee Boy should be suited by box one.
