Bub fine but mum still lost
THE daughter of missing Australian woman Tahnee Shanks is in “good health” and will be handed over to her family once they arrive in Cancun, according to Mexican officials.
Two-year-old Adelynn was found shoeless but unharmed on the streets on Monday. Mexico’s National System for Integral Family Development (DIF) said she would be given over to the custody of her grandmother Leanne Shanks and uncle Ben Shanks once their family connection was officially established.
The state prosecutor said that since Ms Shanks was still missing, they would not comment further while the case remained open.
Police are looking to question Mr Astudilo, and were reportedly searching for a white Toyota Tundra, which was seen driving away from the Chapel of the San Archangel, where Adelynn was found.
Ms Shanks has been living in Merida, Mexico, and was on holiday when she went missing in Cancun.
