BUSHRANGER

-

COURT KIP

From constant bowing to “Your Honour”, to the robes and wigs straight out of the 17th century – the pomp and circumstance of the Supreme Court can become a bit tired. So shout out to the guard who fell asleep at the back of a hearing this week, his gentle snores blowing the hot air out of the silks with every noisy exhale. Bushie thinks even the judge cracked a smile.

SUPER IDEA

The annual Hospitality Awards are a great event where the people who pull your beers and cook your dinners have a night out themselves. After a tough year for the industry, one of the winners intercepted the microphone as he walked on stage with a timely message for bosses: “Always pay your super.”

SORRY CHIEF

In the latest Mums Gone Troppo podcast, this week’s guest, Chief Minister

Natasha Fyles, took a friendly dig at the NT News for wrongly reporting she was married to partner Paul Archbold. Bushie would like to apologise for the error which they understand was made in 2014 and 2019.

STAY UP TO DATE

Seizing a moment can be tricky, as Opposition Leader Lia Finocchiaro – or her spin doctors – learned on Friday. But staying up to date helps.

A status appeared on the CLP leader’s Facebook page, with the note: “On a day when Territorians are in mourning, over a stabbing death in Alice in broad daylight yesterday afternoon. Where is Natasha Fyles?”

Bushies would like to point out – as many others also commented on the post too – that Ms Fyles was in Darwin and had held a press conference – only 30 minutes after her own party. If current affairs is too tricky to stay across, Bushie reckons the least that could happen is to stay in touch with her own party members.
