Fans to lap up start of series

- Greg Aldam

Heat one of the anticipated Best All Rounder Series has created an air of excitement around Winnellie Park with eight other quality races on offer on Sunday.

This has been on the racing calendar for a number of years and involves the best eight greyhounds nominated competing over Winnellie Park’s three distances – 312m, 383m and 537m – in what is a test of ability and endurance where the finishing positions of the dogs accumulate points over all three heats to find the eventual winner.

Heat one is over the sprint distance of 312m where the Adam Poulter-trained Nangar Bolt, jumping from box one, holds the key as he is the quality runner over this trip.

On Pursuit, for Steele Bolton, and Tiggerlong Rheve, for Andrew Lasker, could be his main opposition.

Teresa Wareham has hit the ground running since coming on the training scene at Winnellie Park in early 2023 and she appears to have some nice chances across the program.

They include Whitey La La, who can start the night off well as it looks a suitable assignment for him over the 383m distance. Socks La La in race six has to be included among the better chances, while to finish the night Rosie La La coming out of box eight over the 312m journey looks suited.

Other notable hopes across the night include Max Is Mad in race two for Poulter, Go Karts jumping from box eight in race four for Bolton should run well, while in the following race another Bolton runner in Duo Glide even back in distance will prove hard to beat.

First race is at 6.59pm, with gates open from 5.30pm.
