FILMING A NEW SERIES
GOLDEN Beach will be the focal point of a new web series to be filmed over the next week by renowned Coast director Tam Sainsbury.
Time and Place follows the story of a big-shot magazine writer who returns to her humble roots after spending various years living overseas.
Delving into the lives of different family members, the comedic drama has been compared to series such as Packed to the Rafters and Offspring.
Filmed and based in Caloundra and at nearby hot-spots including Kings Beach, Pumicestone Passage and Dicky Beach, Mrs Sainsbury said she wanted to portray the area in its true and natural light.
“It’s a beautiful area, I want to try and do what
Home and Away has done for Palm Beach, it would be really great to put this area on the map,” she said.
“Instead of making up a fictitious town name I’ve actually just used a real one to showcase the Sunshine Coast to the world because being a web series it can be watched anywhere.”
In writing the script, Mrs Sainsbury said she drew inspiration from surrounding residents and businesses.
“There is a character who manages the local surf club and I always imagined that to be the Caloundra Powerboat Club,” she said.
The series reels in some A-list actors such as Lara Cox, Tracy Mann and Lisa Kay who have previously worked on productions
including All Saints, Home and Away and Bridget Jones Diaries.
“After a previous feature film I did with Lara Cox I always imagined her for the role of Rebecca and I wrote the script accordingly,” Mrs Sainsbury said.
Of 17 cast members, 12 are from the Coast region. The director also made an effort to include nearby residents in the filming as extras.
