INSIDE: Caloundra Events Centre to close for summer
WORKS are about to begin on the $6 million upgrade of the cultural hub of the Sunshine Coast.
The multi-million dollar refurbishment of the Coast’s performing arts and cultural centre will begin this month.
The works are co-funded by Sunshine Coast Council and the Federal Government and will include an upgraded theatre, covered deck areas, a covered entrance and function room.
Councillor Tim Dwyer said to ensure the refurbishment was completed as soon as possible, the centre would be closed until April 23 next year.
“The overall scale and scopes of work meant that to try and do anything else would have been unsafe and impractical,” Cr Dwyer said.
“The only way to get it done was to close it down.
“The community have been absolutely wonderful in getting behind The Events Centre and helping us secure the funding needed.”
