Changes to roads due to upgrades
IMPORTANT traffic changes will happen at the Caloundra Road Interchange as works ramp up to transform it into Australia’s first diverging diamond Interchange.
Transport and Main Roads Regional Director Barbara van Heerden said the existing right-turn lane at the Caloundra Road Interchange would be permanently closed from Wednesday, November 21.
“This will impact motorists travelling from Steve Irwin Way to the Bruce Highway southbound,” Ms van Heerden said.
“Motorists wishing to travel southbound will need to seek an alternate route either via the Roys Road Interchange at Bells Creek or the Racecourse Road Interchange on Caloundra Road.
“These routes will remain as the alternative routes until the opening of a new dedicated, free-flowing southbound entry ramp in late 2019, weather permitting.”
Ms van Heerden said temporary traffic changes at the northern end of Steve Irwin Way at Glenview remained in effect while a new intersection was being built.
“The westbound lanes on Steve Irwin Way are currently closed with traffic flow being maintained using the eastbound lanes, with one lane open in each direction,” she said.
“The new intersection will connect motorists to the new western service road between Glenview and Sippy Downs.”
