WISHLIST has announced its own Cash for Containers initiative in hopes of raising funds for local health services while benefiting the environment.

Container donations have begun to flow in from Sunshine Coast University Hospital as well as Nambour and Gympie Hospital, as health staff reach into their bins, instead of their pockets, to support their local health foundation.

Catherine Buick, Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service’s Director of Operational Support Services, said they’re proud to support Wishlist in its Cash for Containers campaign.

“Not only are we helping reduce waste but we’re also assisting our local charity,” Ms Buick said.

Wishlist have also appealed to local businesses, community groups, retirement homes and even schools to donate their recyclable trash, on an ongoing basis, to help fund vital health initiatives, locally.

And the results have been humbling.

Wishlist Philanthropic manager Hans De Koning said the foundation will start receiving regular recycling donations from some businesses.

“We’ve had a great response to our newest fundraising initiative. And we’re hoping the campaign continues to gain momentum within the generous Sunshine Coast community.”

Community groups and businesses wishing to get involved and donate containers to Wishlist should contact Hans De Koning: hans.dekon[email protected] or 0418 274 318.
