THE big­gest names in men’s and women’s ten­nis de­scend on Mel­bourne for the Aus­tralian Open.

The 2019 event will fea­ture the re­turn of Ser­ena Wil­liams, who last com­peted here in 2017 when she won the ti­tle while eight weeks preg­nant with baby Olympia.

Should Wil­liams win an­other Aus­tralian Open, she will equal Mar­garet Court’s all-time record of 24 Grand Slam sin­gles ti­tles.

Ti­tans Rafael Nadal and Andy Mur­ray are both on the come­back trail af­ter a chal­leng­ing year of in­juries.

Af­ter notch­ing his 20th Grand Slam ti­tle in Mel­bourne last year, Roger Fed­erer will be chas­ing a record sev­enth vic­tory. Re­becca Mad­dern (pic­tured), James Bracey and Tony Jones host Nine’s cov­er­age.
