Fisher hits back over funding

Sunshine Coast Daily - - NEWS -

THE LNP has hit back at claims by Health Minister Steven Miles about funding shortfalls across the Sunshine Coast hospital network.

Member for Fisher Andrew Wallace said since 2014-15, funding from the Federal Government had grown 30 per cent, while the Queenslandled Palaszczuk government trailed behind at 26 per cent.

Since 2012-13, federal funding allocated to the Coast has increased by $120 million, growing by 88.2 per cent, Mr Wallace said.

He also pointed to an additional $381.9 million put in to Queensland Government’s bank account for public hospital funding from the LNP, taking the total received to more than $4 billion for 2016-17.

The additional funding was provided based on the advice of two independent umpires – the Independent Hospital Pricing Authority and the Administrator of the National Health Funding Body. The LNP’s new five-year agreement aims to deliver $130.2 billion in funding to hospitals.

“We call on the Queensland Labor Government to stop putting politics ahead of patients and sign on to our agreement, which will deliver an additional $7.4 billion for public hospitals across the state,” he said.
