Coast shines at construction awards

Four local builders show the state how it’s done

Sunshine Coast Daily - - NEWS -

A WORLD-CLASS, one-of-akind tourist attraction in the state’s north, and a Europeaninspired mansion in the south have taken top honours at this year’s Queensland Housing & Construction Awards.

But locally a host of Sunshine Coast builders have taken home gongs at the gala event last night.

Four Sunshine Coast builders have been honoured for projects that ticked all the boxes of judges.

In the Tourism and Leisure Facilities up to $10 million Ruby Developments Pty Ltd came out on top with their Living Gems Pacific Paradise Country Club.

Hutchinson Builders were honoured in the Commercial Building up to $5 million category for their work on the Peregian Beach Digital Hub.

In the housing category, Bold Properties Display Home, up to $250,000, the Calypso 187 at Bells Creek was the winner.

Judges said the home was warm, relaxing and comfortable.

At just 187sq m the design packs a punch including four bedrooms, double garage, two bathrooms and a spacious kitchen, living and dining

Blinco Homes took out the Individual Home, $351,000 – $450,000, for their Kingfisher home at Palmview.

Judges were impressed with the soaring ceiling in the main casual living space, stunning timber floors and expansive glass to capture natural light and the forest views.

The other Coast winner was the Platinum Property Group.

They won Best Residential Kitchen with their Hamptonsinspired home at Twin Waters.

Master Builders CEO Grant Galvin applauded all the winners across the 61 categories.

“This year’s awards theme was ‘Celebrating building communities, celebrating you’. The homes, projects and people who entered certainly delivered the goods,” Mr Galvin said.

“From health facilities, schools, shopping centres and libraries, to waterfront mansions, contemporary designs

and affordable luxury, this year’s winners have helped shape and grow Queensland towns and communities. They are a true celebration of what our diverse industry is capable of.

“Once again the judges had a very tough job on their hands. The high calibre of entries shows our members are continuing to push through boundaries, innovate, overcome obstacles and produce quality projects are amongst Queensland’s best.

“It’s humbling that after more than 30 years, the Housing & Construction Awards continue to be the pinnacle achievement sought after by the state’s top builders and tradespeople.”

FK Gardner& Son san dDT L Constructions were recognised for their contributions to building Queensland communities, taking home Project of the Year and House of the Year, respectively.
