Tax breaks

Sunshine Coast Daily - - YOUR SAY -

I READ with incredulity that Scott Morrison is activating a $28.9 billion

tax break to small businesses.

Whilst in theory this might sound like a wonderful boost for both business and workers, the reality is that it is completely naive in the extreme to believe that this “gift” will lead to a relief in a five-year salary stagnation.

History shows profit increases boosted by fewer staff are more likely.

Small businesses are already making profits but no sign that any of this is filtering through to wages.

With union power in decline, corporate militancy decrees that salaries will remain static in most sectors. ADRIAN RICHES Buderim
