Barnett takes over as minister
GUY Barnett is Tasmania’s new Primary Industries Minister after a reshuffle, adding to his portfolio of Energy and Veterans Affairs.
Former primary industries minister Sarah Courtney remains in Cabinet after a code of conduct probe found she should have disclosed a relationship with her department head sooner.
Ms Courtney told Premier Will Hodgman on October 14 she and her department secretary, John Whittington, had formed a personal relationship.
Ms Courtney stepped down and Dr Whittington took personal leave while conflict of interest and code of conduct investigations were held.
Mr Hodgman said independent reviews found failure to disclose the relationship sooner was a “minor” breach of the ministerial code of conduct.
Ms Courtney is now Resources Minister and Building and Construction Minister.
