Up­ward move in cat­tle prices

PRICES im­proved this week as a light yard­ing of 50 trade and pro­ces­sor cat­tle was on of­fer at Roberts’ Quoiba sale on Wed­nes­day.

A cou­ple of well-pol­ished lines of heavy trade steers and steer veal­ers reached the sale high of 312c/kg.

Trade steers made 268c/kg to 298c/kg while heifers made 232c/kg to 304c/kg.

There were only a hand­ful of pro­cess­ing cows yarded and th­ese held to re­cent quotes. Beef cows made 150c/kg to 172c/kg and dairy breeds up to 132c/kg.

Due to Mon­day’s pub­lic holiday there was no lamb sale.
