TASMANIAN organic dairy farmer Andy Jackman has been named as a finalist in this year's Shine awards.

Mrs Jackman, who farms with her husband Matt on their property in the state’s North-West, is one of 18 finalists from around the country.

Now in their second year, the Shine awards recognise and celebrate the contributions of women in rural and regional communities.

Over the past 12 weeks, stories celebrating rural women’s achievements have been run in Tasmanian Country, The Weekly Times and the Rural Weekly.

Three finalists have been named in each of the six competition categories: passion, belief, grace, spirit, dedication and courage.

Mrs Jackman is a finalist in the passion category for her work to develop the family’s unique on-farm value-adding business Red Cow Organics. The winners of this year’s awards will be revealed in a special Shine awards magazine available in The Weekly Times on Wednesday.
