Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II

A GREAT CAMERA WITH INCREDIBLE IMAGE STABILISATION.

-

THE E M5 MARK II is an update to Olympus’s original (and excellent) E-M5. Boasting a fully articulated 3-inch LCD touch screen, increased focus points, wireless connectivity and improvement to Olympus’ ve-axis image stabilisation, which compensates for any type of camera shake, you’ll forgive its large price tag.

It retains its forebear’s dust- and splash-proof magnesium alloy body, but some changes have been made to the controls. e dials and buttons on this camera are all well placed, providing easy access to the main features. e improved fully articulated LCD screen means that you can take photos and videos at almost any angle with ease.

Image quality is superb on the E-M5, performing well in both ideal conditions and in lower-light environments. Our test images were very clean and sharp, whilst colours were quite accurate when in auto mode.

The most exciting upgrade is perhaps the improved image stabilisation, which was already quite impressive in the previous model. Camera shake from wobbly hands is a thing of the past on this new unit. Whilst other MILCs might boast 4K-resolution video, the image stabilisation here makes video shooting easier for everybody. Manual control is also available when recording video, which allows for some quite creative movies.

Olympus has also incorporated wireless control and image transfers, eliminating the need for an Eye-Fi card or cable connection to get your snaps o the device. All up, this is a great camera aimed at those who want the ability to take their photos and videos seriously, but who don’t quite want to commit to a high-end DSLR.
