Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2

INEXPENSIVE, BUT CAN YOU STAND THE WEIGHT?

-

WHETHER OR NOT this is the tablet for you will probably come down to this device’s most unique feature, the rotating stand on the bottom edge of the screen. When extended, it allows this tablet to be easily propped up on a desk, kitchen or seat-back table, but that same stand adds a lot of weight to the overall unit. If you want a super-light, small tablet that you’re happy to operate from the palms of your hand, the bulky stand will likely be a turn o , as the entire unit weighs 619 grams.

Part of this weight is likely due to the large 10.1 inch IPS display, which packs a very crisp 1,920 x 1,200 pixels into its smallish frame. It’s not in the same league as the Mini 4, but is still exceedingly readable, if a tad lacklustre in its colour reproduction. Touch-accuracy is also a little wonky, which we noticed several times when trying to close tabs in Google Chrome; it instead opened up a new one, which became quite frustrating. e hardware within isn’t quite up there with more expensive tablets, but it’s not far behind. In day to day use we found the overall responsiveness to be ok, if not lightning-fast.

If you’re looking for a good value tablet that you can stand on its own two feet, the Yoga Tablet 2 has plenty to o er. However, if you want the absolute best in hardware at an incredibly light weight, it probably doesn’t tick the right boxes for you.
