Microsoft Surface Pro 3

-

ALMOST AS GOOD AS A MACBOOK.

AT THE TIME of writing, Microso had slashed $210 o the price of the variant of the Surface Pro 3 we reviewed, making it exceptional value. However, it’s likely that the price will jump back up to $1399 by the time you read this, but even then it’s a killer machine for the price.

So just what is it about the Surface range that has seen it become a billion dollar business for Microso ? For starters there’s the build quality and stunning good looks. e aluminium rear includes a very slick yet useful stand that can prop the screen up at a range of angles, while the polished glass front simply exudes class. It’s a tad larger than the Surface 3, with a 12-inch screen, and the resolution has been given a shot in the arm, leaping to a crisp 2,160 x 1,440. No wonder that the pixel structure is invisible. It’s a fully touch enabled screen, and is arguably the most accurate we’ve ever fondled, making it easy to select even the smallest elds on websites. e new Surface Pen is an absolute stunner, with its ability to detect various pressures leading to the most natural hand-writing we’ve felt on a tablet, and it’s included in the box.

Intel’s Core i5-4300U might only have twin cores, but the inclusion of Hyper reading and a top speed of 2.9GHz ensures super-fast responsiveness. 4GB of DDR3 is a little low for a machine of this price, but only becomes noticeable if you’re unwise enough to open several taxing applications at once. With swi performance, a killer design and respectable price tag (for this variant at least) the Pro 3 is our favourite convertible Windows 10 PC.
