EXPLAINED: CAMERA SETTINGS
You need to activate Live View if you want to shoot video on your SLR. Here’s what you need to do.
CHOOSE THE RESOLUTION
First, decide what movie recording size you’ll use. Bigger resolutions are generally better, although lower-resolution movies are more internet-friendly. In terms of frame rate, frames per second is normal. Higher settings let you create slow-motion clips later on.
OPTIMISE THE SETTINGS
Think of movies as moving JPEG images: the settings you choose for parameters such as white balance are hard to undo later, so it’s important to get them right at the time of shooting. A neutral, low-contrast picture setting is best.
CONTROL THE EXPOSURE
Your camera’s auto-exposure features will continue to operate while you record, and the picture will change in brightness if you move around much. Setting the exposure manually for consistency is often better, although using faster shutter speeds can lead to jerky motion.
