Because Live View displays the image from the sensor, it can potentiall­y allow for more accurate autofocus. With view nder autofocus, a separate AF module sets the focus, and it only takes a slight misalignme­nt for the focus to be o . However, many situations where you’ll want to use Live View, such as shooting landscapes or close-ups, or recording video, work better with manual focusing.

The good news is that focusing manually is dead easy in Live View. Tapping the magni cation button allows you to zoom in on details, enabling you to position the focus precisely. ABOVE: If you nd manual focus a bit hit and miss, have a go using Live View. If you want to get the subject’s eyes sharp, for example, just use Live View to zoom in on that area of the picture and get the focus just so.
